1st May 2025. Three Clouds in Lutry Port

This original plein-air oil painting was created in Lutry Port on the shores of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), Switzerland, on the first day of May 2025. Painted directly outdoors, the work captures a calm spring atmosphere where three drifting clouds move above the lake and the historic harbour of Lutry.

Lutry, located in the canton of Vaud and surrounded by the vineyards of Lavaux, is one of the most distinctive places along Lake Geneva. The changing light over Lac Léman constantly transforms the colours of the water, sky and mountains, making each painting session unique. On this particular day, the simplicity of three clouds suspended above the harbour became the central rhythm of the composition.

Rather than focusing on detail alone, this painting explores balance, light and atmosphere. The quiet movement of clouds, reflections on the lake and the stillness of the boats create a moment of calm observation preserved through direct plein-air painting.

Created on location in a single outdoor session, the work belongs to my ongoing series dedicated to Lac Léman and the landscapes of Western Switzerland. Each painting records a real encounter with a specific place, season and light condition along the lake.
