A New Page. Still Life with Roses and Ragusa. 09.12.2025

This original oil painting is a still life dedicated to quiet beginnings, reflection and the small rituals that give shape to everyday life. Created in December 2025, the composition brings together roses, Ragusa and the atmosphere of a newly opened chapter, where familiar objects become symbols of memory, beauty and renewal.

The title A New Page refers to the moment when one season of life closes and another begins. The roses introduce a sense of fragility and presence, while Ragusa evokes travel, culture and the layered history of Mediterranean landscapes. Together, these elements create a dialogue between intimacy and distance, between what is close at hand and what remains remembered or imagined. (https://www.ragusawelcome.com)

Rather than presenting objects as static forms, the painting explores their emotional resonance. Light moves across petals, surfaces and textures, transforming ordinary things into carriers of atmosphere and personal meaning. The arrangement becomes less a traditional still life and more a visual meditation on time, change and attention.

The work is painted with an emphasis on colour relationships, subtle tonal transitions and the quiet balance between decorative beauty and contemplation. Each element contributes to a sense of calm concentration, inviting the viewer to pause and observe details that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

Part of my ongoing painting practice, this still life reflects an interest in the poetry of everyday objects and the way they can hold memories, places and emotions within a single composition.
