The Door Out, Villa Mégroz. 01.11.2025

This original oil painting was created at Villa Mégroz in Lutry, Switzerland, a historic Art Nouveau villa situated near the shores of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). Painted in November 2025, the work focuses on a doorway as both an architectural element and a symbolic threshold, a passage between interior and exterior space, memory and movement, presence and departure. Designed in 1905 by the Lausanne architect Georges Epitaux, Villa Mégroz occupies a unique place within the cultural landscape of Lutry. Originally combining residential and commercial functions, the villa today serves as a space dedicated to artistic and cultural activities, continuing its connection to creativity and public life. Its architecture reflects the elegant spirit of the early twentieth century, where decorative forms, light and craftsmanship play an essential role. (Lutry)

In this painting, the door becomes more than a physical object. It suggests transition, possibility and the quiet moment before crossing into another space. The title The Door Out evokes the idea of leaving while simultaneously opening toward something unknown. Light, surface and architectural details are treated not only as visual forms but as carriers of atmosphere and emotional resonance.

Rather than depicting the villa as a monument, the painting explores an intimate fragment of place. Attention is directed toward the relationship between structure, light and perception, where a simple doorway becomes a point of reflection. The surrounding silence, textures and shifting tones transform an everyday architectural detail into a contemplative image.
